I took my sister and Matt to this show yesterday at the Rance Bowl and, DAMN! This was an amazing show! I'm usually not one to enjoy heavy metal music this much, but it was freaking amazing!
They had a couple of decent opening bands. The first, Miles On End, has a lead singer that looks like Jen Go, had she been born with a Y chromosome instead of an X. I was all, "OH MY GOD!!! Either Jen has a long lost twin, or she got an operation!" It was very spiffy, ane he had a nice voice despite the band nearly droning him out.
The second band, Eyes Catch Fire, is probably the hottest damn band I have ever seen in my life. Yes, folks, these 5 boys were hotter than 98 Degrees. Then again, I find the punk rock look much sexier than the preppy, jock look, but that's just me. Anyway, yeah, I drooled for the whole 30 minutes they were onstage. Their music was decent, but they had too much of the whole shouty-screamy thing instead of actual singing. And, once again, most of the actual singing was droned out by the band. Mmmmm . . . I couldn't help fantasizing about groupie parties with those hotties! DAMN!
And then there was a littl break in which I picked up Miles On End's CD because it was only $5, I enjoyed them and wanted to hear them with balanced vocals, and no one else seemed to be buying them, and they were really excited that I bought one. Jen Go's long lost twin smiled and told me that they really appreciated it. I also got Eyes Catch Fire's demo because that was only $1 and they were fugging hot. Unfortunately, no nude pictures of the band were included in the demo cd . . . *sigh*
I also wanted to get a My Chemical Romance t-shirt, but they only had X-L left on the REALLY cool one I wanted. So I just kept my $15.
Anyway, My Chemical Romance just rocked. So amazing. I can't describe how much adrenaline was pumping through my system at this show. The lead singer has this cool look that reminds me of Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins. Well, when SP first became popular. He had jaw length stringy black hair, ghostly pale skin, red eyeshadow, and a black 20's sutit type thingy. It was pretty cool.
And the lead Drummer was another hottie. I found it incredibly interesting that he wore a red t-shirt that said "Homophobia is gay", had a sticker on his guitar that said "Pansy", and wore a pink belt. And he was also fuggin hot. His hotness equalled, if not surpassed each member of EOF. So I drooled over him a lot too. The show was amazing, but shorter than I expected. MCR only got around 30-40 mintes because they had to finish and make way for the 18+ show going on at 10. Oh, and the vocal levels were off. Again. Come to think of it, every time I've been to the Ranch Bowl, the vocals have always been drowned out. I've never heard it anywhere else. But then I've never gone to any other rock concerts. They should fix that. Hell, the only time you can hear a band singing is when they're screaming and gagging, and that's not even singing. Come on! You have mics and a soundsystem for a reason!
But yeah, other than that, everything was awesome. I'm still on a high from that show.
In other news, I have successfully attended all 4 sessions of Physiology this week for the first time the semester. It seems pathetic to be excited about it, but hey, any encouragement is needed.
I have my one-act rehearsal schedule set up. PRactices start next Tuesday! I can't wait! They open November 11 and 12th, which are a Thursday and Friday and EVERYONE NEEDS TO COME!!!! They will be amazing! And they're free! And they're my babies, so I need to show them off!
And what does one do if they think they have a medical problem, and they've had it for about 4 or 5 years now, but they don't know who to go to, or how to talk about it b/c its really embarrassing and personal?
