Fumbling Towards Ecstasy

Insomnia?

God, my sleep schedule is messed up. For the past 2-3 weeks, I haven't been able to get to sleep before 3:00 in the morning. Usually, its around 5:00 in the morning. But I always end up having to wake up around 8-9:00 for work or class. Surprisingly, I'm actually able to get myself out of bed. Go me for that!

Anyway, I usually end up crashing after class (12:00) till around 5:00 or so, and then am up for the next 12 hours. Its like my sleep cycle is constantly cut in half. And on weekends, when I'm at work from 8-4, and I don't have a chance to take a nap, I'm still up until 4:00 in the morning, and still have to get up by 8:00.

So not taking naps hasn't been helping matters much. I'm just more tired. I'm really kind of worried about why I can't fall asleep at night. Its like I'm nocturnal all of a sudden, and that can't be good.

Well, our first musical rehearsal was tonight. I talked to Doc briefly, mostly just telling him I wanted to talk to him at a later time. So I'm going to go in tomorrow afternoon, after class and talk to him. I hope I can get things straightened out.

That, and I have to go talk to the Computer Services lady about my inability to access my e-mail. I've been meaning to do it, but after class, I'm always so exhausted, that I feel like I have to sleep, and then I sleep till after Computer Services is already closed. But since I HAVE to talk to Doc tomorrow, I don't anticipate any naps.

And also, I'm getting into another FFXI burnout period. Lately my Linkshell has gone on an HNM Hunting obsession. HNM's are the super monsters in the game that drop the really rare and expensive items. Each of these monsters only appears once every 24 hours, and its not guaranteed to drop any of the rare items, so there's a lot of competition among people in the game to kill them. And, due to the fact that these are the super monsters of the game, you have to be very high level to even help kill them. I am not high level. So, while the entire Linkshell is off killing super monsters and making millions of gil, I sit and have nothing to do and no one to do it with. Well, except for my brother, who is kind enough to help me do stuff rather than using his high level character to kill super monsters.

So yeah, I feel like I'm getting left out of a lot of stuff, which isn't fun. Also, one of the things that I'm really starting not to like about the game is the fact that 2 classes are so ridiculously over-powered compared to the rest of the classes, to the point of making them negilgible. People in the game are obsessed with getting these over-powered jobs to join their parties, leaving very little room for anyone else. This is most obviously apperant in special missions like the Promyvion missions. These said jobs include Ninja and Ranger. Ninjas spam their spell that allows them to avoid attacks, so naturally, EVERYONE has to have a ninja in the party to absorb hits. And Rangers outdamage any other class in the game by an incredibly absurd amount. Its not even fair how far above any other dedicated damage dealing class they are. As a result, everyone wants them in their party as well.

I'm just not a big fan of anything that so obscenely powerful like these two classes. And to add to the annoyance, these classes are also incredibly expensive as you have to pay for each arrow fired, or pay for tools for each casting of a ninjitsu spell. Thus, NOT leveling these over-powered, expensive jobs, leaves little room to actually participate in end-game activities. I'm just rather pissed about it, and it makes the game that much more frustrating.

Anyway, new games are coming out for consoles that I'm really excited for. I actually have money now to buy Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. I hope to get it, but the idea of spending money kinda worries me. I mean, if I spend it now, I won't have it later. And I might need it later. But I don't really have anything requiring money coming up anytime soon. So . . . I dunno. That and Resident Evil 4 is now out for Gamecube, and I know people with Gamecubes. Not that I'd buy it, but I'd probably rent it. Then again, it IS coming out for PS2 later this year, so I could wait. Haha, I find it funny that Capcom FINALLY realized how incredibly stupid it was of them to make RE a gamecube only franchize. God, they must've lost so much money on that! Well, maybe not lost money, but definitely did not make NEARLY as much money as they would have if it continued on the PlayStation. Or even if it was multi-platform.

Oh, and what I'm REALLY excited for is Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits Von Gut Und Bose. The second chapter to the greatest RPG series ever is out in about a month! I'm so excited! I'd love a chance to play through the first one another time before #2 comes out. As I sense an FFXI break coming on, that shouldn't be too difficult.
