Fumbling Towards Ecstasy

Support

Well, my bio project is finally underway. It's been a frantic couple of days getting everything set up, but I've finally got it all taken care of. I spent most of Monday running around Omaha trying to get ahold of any gay guy I've ever known. Steve was actually really enthusiastic in helping me out. He took some t-shirts and handed them out to Alan, Jason, and even managed to convince Bobby to help out. I dropped by BK to get Alex his shirt, and he gave me some free BK. Thanks, Alex! Mark and Jeff couldn't get ahold of any other guys, but at least they agreed to help, which is all I can really ask of them. And, I actually got ahold of Chris! He was at my house within a half an hour and was all excited to participate.

Then there was a mad dash back to school to finish my evolution paper before class. And as soon as class was done, I grabbed all my project supplies and trudged over to Argo where I found Katie and Nicole, who were also more than excited to help me out, and even took me through Argo, floor by floor, room by room, and introduced me to girls who were willing to help!

From there I went to Holling where more recruitment occured. Nick was my escort in this hall. Joy actually got James to sign up! James! The only other gay guy at Dana whom I was so intimidated by and thought he would just snub his nose at me! I was really blown away. When I met with James to give him his shirt, he was totally nice and excited as well! I guess it just goes to show that you never really know about someone unless you give them a chance. Even the coldest people can really be warm and considerate once you really get to know them.

But yeah, I was just really pleasently surprised by how excited and willing to help everyone was! It was a tremendous show of support, and I am so grateful for it. I've got 9 out of the 10 gay guys, 9 out of the 10 straight boys, and 12 out of the 10 straight girls. With the GSA meeting tonight, it looks like I'll end up with 8 out of the 10 gay girls. So yeah, 39 people out of 40 isn't bad at all! It's amazing! Thank you so much everyone! I know that it was real sudden, and I really appreciate you helping me out on such short notice. I'm sorry I can't list you all here, but I'm sure you know who you are. I love you all! I can't describe how much this means to me. I'm so thankful to have such great friends!
