"Dealin' DJ's Car and Auto Sales, Inc: Cars As Cheap As My X-Wife"
Believe it or not, that's actually a sign that I drive by every other day for an actual car dealership. I still can't decide whether it makes me WANT to get a car there (because the guy has the balls to actually put that on his sign), or if it makes me want to avert my eyes and quickly walk away (because it's kinda creepy and red-neck-ish at the same time).
Anyway, I just posted a bulletin on myspace about the upcoming Omaha Entertainment Awards, and how everyone needs to nominate Brigit St. Brigit shows as a way to get it's name out to the omaha public. As it is, most people I talk to have never herad of BSB, and even of the people who are in the regular theater crowd in Omaha have never been to a show. And I just think it's really sad because we put out some kick ass shows, especially from what I've seen from other theaters in the area. The point isn't about winning or losing awards. It's just to get enough nominations to actually put it on Omaha's theater radar screen. BSB is in sore need of publicity.
So, if you would like to help out, you can go to www.oeawards.net (NOT ".com"!!!), click on the center icon that says "Performing Arts", and on the next screen click on the big "vote" in the upper right corner, which will take you right to the nomination form. For a list of BSB productions you can nominate, you can go to bsbtheatre.blogspot.com. Anyone at all can nominate, but nominations are only accepted through Sunday, November 5th.
Well, now that that public service announcement is out of the way (although it IS an important one), time to move on!
Well, I suppose the biggest event of the past couple weeks is that my computer went into a coma. It didn't "die", per se, but it is . . . fucked up. You see, there were a number of small problems with it, like programs that wouldn't delete no matter how many times I clicked "delete", had a program erase it, or quarantine, or whatever (the virus came back, the very next day. The virus came back. We thought it was a goner, but the virus came back . . .). Anyway, my bro tried to fix it for me, by doing a system recovery to replace the windows stuff. Well, it ended up deleting my user profile (which apperantly wasn't supposed to happen). That's not so bad, right? Well, it's really fucking bad. You see, ALL my files were "Private", meaning that they could only be accessed through my user account (i.e. if anyone else logged onto my computer, other than me, than they could use my programs, but not look at my files). Thus, after my account was deleted, there was no way to actually bring up my files. As a result, ALL my saved papers from college, ALL my digital camera pictures from since I got a digital camera, ALL my screenshots, ALL my game saves, ALL my music, and ALL my porn were, for all intents and purposes, gone.
Fucking gone.
Now, porn and music I can just download again. Hell, most music on my computer either came from my own CDs or from bittorrent.
My papers from college aren't a HUGE loss, as the likelyhood of my ever looking at them again is rather low. Of course re-typing my resume's will be a bitch . . .
What really depresses me, though, are all the pictures I lost. That's a TON of memories of college that are just gone. The only pics I have are the ones from Europe that I actually got printed out. None of my play pictures, none of my random vacation pictures, or anything exist anymore. And by the same token, I've taken screenshots of special occasions in FFXI, like with my Linkshell friends after we finish a major battle, and things like that. Once again, memories that are just gone.
My bro actually got a program that looks for lost files like that. We found, MAYBE 10% of all the files that were lost. It could find anymore because my computer didn't have any more room. You see, my files were still taking up space on my computer, even though I couldn't reach them. This program merely copied them to where I could access them. Thus, I couldn't find any more files without deleting stuff from my computer. Of course I couldn't delete anything off my computer b/c my computer couldn't access it . . .
So, of that 10%, a vast majority of that was a bunch of crap that I don't have any idea how it got on my computer in the first place. I think it literally found 10 copies of the album cover to the shrek soundtrack, of which I downloaded one song from online. Whoop-de-fuckin-do. So, of that 10%, about 1% is actual stuff that meant something. I got all the word documents, and I took a bunch of sound files, and all the pictures that I could find. When they were found, the program just assigned some random number, so I have to go through what I saved to find out what it is. Of couse, I can't even OPEN the documents until I re-download and install microsoft office. And then listen to all the sound files to find out if they're A)even music at all (rather than random beepy noises), B) if they're music I actually own, or downloaded, and C) if they're not multiple copies saved.
Ugh, it's a mess. My bro feels really bad about it. I'm not mad at him, I'm just dissappointed at all the pictures I lost.
Of course, now that Final Fantasy XII is out, actually sorting through those files is going to take a while . . .
There was sooooo much more I was going to talk about, but there's only so much to cram into one entry. Of course if I took time to blog at some time OTHER than sitting around backstage waiting to go on, I might get more done. Of course, at home, there's 2 final fantasies taking up my time, so, yeah, nothing much can be done.
Oh, and by the way . . . FINAL FANTASY XII IS GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOOOO GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!!!
